The St George Medical School year is divided into two academic terms which makes it possible for you to enroll in either term without having to wait for a single summer/fall start term as is the case with American medical schools. 

Clearly, this is an advantage of attending any of the international medical schools is that you can enroll in either term throughout the academic year.

You will concentrate on the traditional basic science disciplines where laboratory experience is at the foundation of these first two years.

An additional component of your St George Medical School education includes small group discussions designed for problem-based learning and integration of the Basic Sciences into your clinical experience.

The Office of Career Guidance and Student Development at St George School of Medicine plays a pivotal role in helping you prepare for the USMLE exam and securing postgraduate residency.

St George University Financing

At Grenada Medical School the tuition varies depending on which term you are currently enrolled. It can be as low as $7,481 and as high as $20,532 per term.

For those of you who are U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents you will be eligible for the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) even though you’re attending one of the foreign medical schools.

FFELP consists of subsidized Stafford, unsubsidized Stafford, and Gad PLUS Loans.

Grenada Medical School Accreditation

St George’ School of Medicine is accredited by the government of Grenada, but more importantly you will have the ability to practice medicine throughout the United States due to recognition by the National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation (of the US Dept. of Educ.).

St George Medical School meets the very stringent accreditation standards specified by four states (California, Florida, New Jersey, and New York) as well as:

  • Recognized by the Medical Board of California
  • Approved by the Florida Commission on Independent Education of the Florida Department of Education
  • Approved by the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners and the State of New Jersey for the purpose of conducting clinical training programs in the state of New Jersey
  • Approved by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) for the purpose of conducting clinical training programs in the state of New York

SGU Admissions

North American Applicants

St George’ Medical School will require the following:

  • Completed bachelor’s degree by time of enrollment
  • General Biology or Zoology w/lab – One year
  • Organic Chemistry w/lab – One year
  • Inorganic Chemistry (General of Physical) w/lab – One year
  • Physics w/lab – One semester
  • Math: Calculus, Computer Science or Statistics – One semester
  • English – One semester

It is recommended that you take additional courses in: microbiology, biochemistry, and physiology to prepare for medical school matriculation. You will also need basic knowledge in the use of computers.

MCAT: You are required to submit MCAT scores.

British Applicants

  • Bachelor’s degree with a strong science background.
  • Passes on the Advanced Level of the General Certificate of Education will be assessed individually and will be considered for entry into the appropriate premedical sciences program.
  • If English is not your principal language, you must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and score 600 points (written) and 250 points (computer-based).
