Charles Drew University Post Baccalaureate Getting You Into Med School

The Charles Drew University Post Baccalaureate Certificate Program aims to address the United States facing a shortage of approximately 200,000 physicians by 2020.

At Charles Drew University students wishing to pursue a medical career will have the opportunity to show academic excellence while mastering all the elements of the premedical curriculum.

In this post baccalaureate program you will be challenged to develop critical-thinking and test-taking skills within your curriculum.

Ultimately, it is the success of the students which matters the most and this is optimized through one-on-one attention and individualized instruction.

Program Focus

This program is designed for career-changers; individuals who hold an undergraduate degree but who lack a strong science background. This Certificate program will give you the opportunity to take courses required for admission to medical, osteopathic and dental schools.

If you have already taken the prerequisite science courses and want to improve your GPA this is not the program for you.

Structure

The core curriculum is the logical sequence of science courses which you will take to meet the requirements for medical school and other professional health schools. The program is flexible and can be tailored to meet your specific needs.

If you will be taking all of the basic science courses expect to be enrolled for four semesters (two years), these courses are marked with an asterisk (*). Otherwise your time may be shorter if you donÂ’t need all the courses.

To receive a Certificate of Completion you will be required to take a minimum of 24 credits in the sciences and have a GPA of 3.2 or better.

You will be required to participate in the Charles Drew University MCAT Review Course. Also, test-taking seminars are scheduled throughout the year with a goal of reducing stress/anxiety and raising scores.

Eligibility

You will need a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5 or better. This certificate granting program is unstructured/individualized and can be completed on a part or full-time basis.

Admissions

The Charles Drew University Post Baccalaureate Certificate Program can only be started during the fall semester of each academic year. Application requirements include:

• Must hold a bachelorÂ’'s degree from an accredited college or university
• Official transcripts
• College of Science and Health admissions application form
• Refundable application fee of $35.00
• Three letters of recommendation (one must be from an academic source)

Deadline Completed applications must be received no later than March 1.
